Web Content Writing Tips

Your potential customers are just scrolling down through sites after sites, looking for any new and exciting information. Your purpose is to catch their attention so they’ll stop and read your post. Here are some more tips in writing web contents:

 1.    Keep it easy and clean
As said earlier, they just scroll down, glance, and wait for anything that will spark their interest. So when writing a web content, see to it that you can deliver your message clearly, without the unnecessary fuss that will easily bore them out.

2.     State the most vital information first
The important points should always come first because if they get a grasp of what you’re trying to say, they are most likely to be interested and would want to know some more details, especially if it is in line with what they’re looking for.

3.    Be obvious
Your readers aren’t sitting around leisurely while surfing the internet. They are looking for specific information. Avoid writing using overly creative and clever words which will require deep thinking. Your words should be obvious and self-explanatory.

4.    Keep the scanners in mindYour potential customers won’t read word for word. Most of them would only scan. That is why you should write in a way that he/she can immediately get the most important information that your website offers by just glancing at your page.

5.    Use familiar words
Use words that they would most likely use when searching up on the internet. They are going to look for familiar words (also called as carewords) because once they see those words in a site; they would think that perhaps you’ve got what they’re looking for.

6.    Write stuff that will be easy to read
These web visitors aren’t planning to put in much effort to read everything you wrote so just put in short paragraphs and sentences. Refrain from using technical words and repetition. And most importantly, address them directly by using the word ‘you’.

7.    Websites won’t be read by visitors like a book
Unlike books which are read from start to finish, when visiting websites, people are most likely to end up on different pages, not necessarily on your home page. Web pages should be written to an entry page and include buttons and links to guide them all the way.

8.    Lure your potential customers
Always provide the most useful information and answer the questions that your visitors may be asking. Always include links to other web pages on your site or another, and write using words and phrases that your potential customers would be looking for.

9.    Impress web visitors through the visuals
Your website’s look is a great factor for influencing your web visitors. Once they are pleased with what they’re seeing, they would try to fish in for more relevant information. Use pictures and videos, and know when to use different font sizes. Use highlights, bullet points, and quotes.

10.    Keep your links updated
Your web pages should always link to other pages whether it’s on your website or from another source. You can set schedules to check your old posts and update the links in it, so when visitors stumble upon it, they can always get something out from it.

Just always keep in mind that web content writing should be kept simple and reader-friendly. Set a clear positioning and it will be easier for your site to gain visitors which will be your potential customers.
