Freelancing is a very popular profession nowadays. Many individuals are earning a hefty amount by doing freelancing. Many are taking freelancing as their primary profession and doing it full-time.

Freelancer Institute is a dedicated platform by IamContenting for all the individuals who want to start the freelancing journey and want to know all the tricks and tips to succeed in this field.

At Freelancer Institute, we will provide you with some free-to-use guides to answer some of the very common questions that every new freelancer has.

What Is Freelancing?

In simple words, freelancing is working for one or multiple clients at a time where you set the rate, time and working hours. Freelancing is mostly done remotely, and that is why you can work for any client from any part of the world.

As a freelancer, you are not committed to an employer long-term. You are self-employed, and you are your own boss. It sounds tempting, right? However, it is not that easy. You need to be self-disciplined and build a strong character.

You need to obey the rules and guidelines provided by your client for any particular project.

Why Freelancing?

Freelancing is not meant to replace your full-time job or your career goal initially. It takes time to create a credible portfolio. So, start slow, keep learning and keep working on projects that you can successfully complete.

If you are a college student or a fresh graduate, it is the best time to start a freelancing career. You have many skills, your mind is fresh and want to explore new challenges. The only thing you need is to find out which are the skills of yours that you are confident of and how can you implement them to fulfill the needs of a client.

Freelancing will not only provide you with some extra cash but also will help you to create your own business that you can grow in the future and can make it a full-time career.

Unemployment is a universal problem. Freelancing is the best solution to fight unemployment and make a living with pride.

What Work Does A Freelancer Do?

There is no particular list of works that a freelancer can do. There are plenty of opportunities.

If you are good at writing, you can work as a freelance content writer. If you love taking photos, you can work as a freelance photographer. If you are good at coding, you can work as a freelance coder.

The list and the opportunities in freelancing will not end.

If you have multiple skills and you feel that you can be a good help to any client, you can freelance on multiple fields.

However, do not take freelancing as an easy way to earn money online. You need to be hundred percent committed and confident of your skill.

When a client hires you to do a task for him, he is expecting a satisfactory outcome.

How to Be A Freelancer?

If you want to be a freelancer, you need to learn some skills, for example, writing, coding, photography, drawing, data entry, excel, social media management, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), etc.

If you already know what skill you can use as a freelancer, level up that skill. Take some online classes, watch videos, take advise from experts, follow top blogs on that particular field, etc.

You can also take some certification courses from Coursera, Udemy, etc., to enhance your skills further.

Look at some example courses that you can take as a Freelancer and enhance your skills.

Once you are confident that you are now ready to start freelancing, create accounts on top freelancing platforms like Upwork, Guru, Flexjobs, etc.

How Much Can A Freelancer Earn?

Earning as a freelancer has no limitation. You set your rate, and you set the amount of work you want to do.

For example, if you want to work on a per hour basis and you set your hourly rate as $15, and you work 30 hours a week, you earn $450 per week, $1800 per month and $21,600 per annum. The more experienced you get, the more rate you can charge and your earning can grow up heavily.

Almost 5 years ago, I started my freelance content writing career at a rate of $2/500 words (Which was dirt cheap). With experience, continuous learning, and improved skills, I now make $350 per article on an average.

I know many freelancers who even make thousands of dollars per assignments and even more.

Look at the number of freelancers earning $100,000+ a year. That is a lot of money!

That is why I want to share my knowledge and process to reach to a position where you can make freelancing your primary career and enjoy the freedom of work.
